Farmer's Markets in the Westfield Area

There are two farmers markets close to Westfield.  The first is the Lauraville Tuesday Farmer's Market, located on the 4500 block of Harford Road, and open 4-8 p.m. every Tuesday between June and September.

The second is the Overlea Farmer's market, located at 6908 Belair Road (in the parking lot of the Natural History Society).  The Overlea Farmer's Market began in 2016 and opens every Saturday, beginning in May, from 8 a.m. until noon.

In addition to the regular farmers' markets, you should check out George's Farm Market at 7956 Harford Road, in Parkville.  For 1/4 century this farm stand has been selling vegetables, fruits and flowers from local farms.

Take Part in a CSA (Community Suported Agriculture)

CSAs are another great way to eat locally.  CSA allows city residents to have direct access to high quality, fresh produce grown locally.  When you become a member of a CSA, you’re purchasing a “share” of vegetables from a regional farmer.  Often you'll receive a better price for fresher fruit and vegetables than you would get from the grocery market.  Here is an overview of some CSAs in our area.

Bearfoot Farm - Operated by Kyle Long, Westfield's own Bearfoot Farm has been in operation since 2016.  Contact them for more information about joining the seasonal CSA.  You can also buy Bearfoot Farm's produce at the Lauraville Tuesday Market.

One Straw Farm offers a CSA with pickup available locally, at the Harford Road Church of the Messiah.  They offer a 24 week CSA membership with boxes including a variety of seasonal items such as strawberries, beets, snap peas, watermelon and squash.

Real Food Farm, at Clifton Park, is both a business and a social venture, aiming to improve neighborhood access to healthy food.  They have a 23-week CSA, running from May through October.  Members receive a weekly newsletter that includes a list of upcoming share items.

TALMAR Gardens and Horticultural Center operates at Cromwell Valley Farm.  TALMAR is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing health for people of all ages and abilities. Their CSA includes a diverse mixture of heirloom and unique vegetable varieties. During the 24 week season members receive a generous portion of seasonal veggies, berries and herbs. Pick up on Tuesday or Friday afternoon at the TALMAR farm in the Towson/Parkville area, located within Cromwell Valley Park.  Flowers are also available.

The Full Circle Urban Farm is located in Hamilton, just off of Harford Road.  Run by Steve Blaes, they specialize in microgreens, worm castings and gourmet mushrooms. Blaes also runs an ecological design and gardening service.
